Rainbow Springs Nature Park

Rainbow Springs Nature Park offers a nature walk through native and
introduced species of wildlife set amongst beautiful native trees, plants
and ferns. Guide services are available for group tours that will enhance
your daytime visit.
An MP3 audio player enhances the overall experience for the FIT traveller
providing an in-depth commentary about the wildlife and plant life in the
lower part of the park. Carry on to view another 600 m of park that offers
additional wildlife with an historic story line as you walk up to the Fairy
Spring lawn area, including a walk to the Wai-o-whiro stream loop
track.
Rainbow Springs is now open late each evening so visitors can view the
park with a new and exciting array of coloured lighting. Look out for the
night-time walk through the Kiwi enclosure. Our adult Kiwi are at home in
the Kiwi house, a purpose-built facility which mirrors natural conditions.
Kiwi are active at night, when they come out to forage and feed, so in
order for you to see them, our Kiwi House is dark during the day.
Also at night, try our combo with the Mitai Maori Cultural Experience for
an evening intertwined with Maori culture, dance, food and history. This
will be followed by a guided tour of Rainbow Springs at night featuring
native New Zealand wildlife and foliage lit and explained in a way that
complements your evening’s earlier experience.
