Katoro Waka Heritage Journeys

A day of Waka-Kiwi-Haka and fun! Paddle a Maori waka (war canoe), listening to Ngai Tahu (tribal) stories while you journey through early Maori and European settlers sites, including how Maori with waka helped move settlers’ stock and materials in the 1800s. Meet New Zealand’s iconic kiwi bird up close in New Zealand’s premier wildlife reserve. Enjoy a traditional Ko Tane Maori cultural experience, witnessing the stories shared by your storyteller come alive in song and dance – you may even wish to learn the haka or poi dances with us.
