We employ great characters to be your local guides, and reserve budget beds in outstanding locations – not just in hostels but in lodges, pubs and cabins as near as possible to the action. We guarantee frequent departures and make the passes totally flexible, so that you can get on and get off anywhere you want along the way for up to twelve months. We work with local companies to offer down-to-earth, unique activities that save you money.
Stray uses smaller coaches and keeps the average group size at 35, which means that we have greater access to national parks, bush areas and beaches and can show you parts of New Zealand that no other bus company can! We are the only travel network to include a lodge stay in Raglan and the option of surf school, an overnight beside Cathedral Cove for a sunrise walk or sea kayak, a night with a Maori family for immersion into real local culture, the Tongariro Crossing trek, and the Catlins Wilderness area in our standard passes.
