Wanganui Riverboat Centre
Come and experience a cruise on New Zealand’s last and only authentic paddle steamer – Waimarie. This one-hundred-year-old steam vessel was salvaged from her muddy grave of the Whanganui River and restored to her former glory. Cruises depart from the Whanganui Riverboat Centre Museum where visitors can view displays of the riverboat era. For a truly unique maritime heritage experience.
Operating hours:
Riverboat Centre Museum: Mon – Sat, 9am – 4pm; Sunday/holidays, 10am – 4pm.
Paddle Steamer Waimarie: Summer, 20 Oct – 30 Apr, daily 2pm; Winter, 1 May – 20 Oct, sailing 1pm, Sat/Sun, public & school holidays. No sailings during August.
