Whakarewarewa - The Thermal Village
Set amidst thermal springs and mud pools is the living village of Whakarewarewa. Steeped in a rich heritage, the village upholds the traditions and culture of Tuhourangi/Ngati Wahiao, who have shared their history and way of life with visitors since the 1800s. Key experiences: authentic living Maori Village; guided tours (9am – 4pm); geothermal features; Maori cultural performances (11:15am and 2pm); hangi meals (12pm till 2pm); cultural demonstrations; authentic Ancestral House; arts and crafts.
