New Zealand’s AJ Hackett Bungy was the world’s first commercial bungy jumping operation. 22 years after AJ Hackett set up at Kawarau Bridge near Queenstown they celebrate a huge success: last weekend, the adventure pioneers took the crown for the Large Business category at the Westpac Queenstown Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Awards.

AJ Hackett Bungy won the award for its outstanding contribution to the national and local tourism industry and its great range of adrenaline options alongside staff incentive schemes. To enter the competition, AJ Hackett Bungy had to show excellent performance in areas such as business improvement, management strategy and achieving success. Bungy New Zealand CEO Michelle Trapski says: “This award is hugely significant to our whole team and we’re excited to have won. It’s about the remarkable energy and value we as a company place on leadership, teamwork, customer service and product development. [...] At AJ Hackett Bungy we strive to stand out, to be fun, innovative, competitive, passionate and non-conforming. Looking to the future, we’re determined to continue to develop products that delight new customers and inspire our crew.”
