In just a few months the World Buskers Festival hits town again! This celebration of fun on the footpath takes place in Christchurch in late January every year; 17 years since it began, it’s become the largest street theatre festival in Australasia and amongst the top five in the world.

Much-loved by locals and a major attraction for visitors, the World Buskers Festival is the top-attended event in Christchurch – approximately 30,000 attend each day. And no wonder! Offering 500 performances crammed into 10 days and 11 nights of non-stop fun, the festival attracts the best street performers from New Zealand and around the world. Performances take place at 14 venues around the city and suburbs, and there’s no need to purchase tickets; events are free, with donations accepted afterwards.
